Food Safety Management System

ISO 22000:2018 is a food safety management system by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) which is outcome focused, providing requirements for any organization in the food industry with objective to help to improve overall performance in food safety. These standards are intended to ensure safety in the global food supply chain. The standards involve the overall guidelines for food safety management and also focuses on traceability in the feed and food chain.

When apply this standard must comply against ISO 22003-1:2022. Certification of FSMS is a third-party conformity assessment activity (as described in ISO/IEC 17000:2020, 4.3), and bodies performing this activity are third-party conformity assessment bodies.

FSMS certification does not attest to the safety or fitness of the products of an organization within the food chain. However, an FSMS requires an organization to meet all applicable food-safety-related statutory and regulatory requirements through its management system.
